Network Chico has founded
its own Folding@home
distributed computing team called Netchico
compute. The Network Chico
Netchico compute team number
is 46501 and any client program can contribute to the
statistics for this team by putting the number 46501 in
the team field of the client configuration. Clients are available
to download
for most current operating systems including Windows,
Mac OS X and Linux.
From the Folding@Home web page:
Folding@Home is a distributed computing project which studies
protein
folding, misfolding, aggregation, and related diseases. We use novel computational
methods and large scale distributed computing to simulate timescales
thousands to millions of times longer than previously achieved.
This has allowed us to simulate folding for the first time and
to now direct our approach to examine folding related disease.
How can you help? You can help our project by downloading and running our client software.
Our algorithms are designed such that for every computer that
joins the project, we get a commensurate increase in simulation
speed.
Updates:
- 23 March 2008 Well over 1100 work units have been
completed for a total of more than 240,000 points.
- 13 August 2007 The NetChico
Compute team (46501)
has now folded more than 820 work units for a total of
more than 150,000 points. Team Ranking: 2899
of 76856. This marks the first time the NetChico team
has been ranked below number 2900.
- 20 May 2007 More than 620 work units have been
folded for a total of just under 117,000 points.
- 20 May 2007 HostChico
has joined the Netchico compute
team with one of their Linux servers. This is currently the highest
performing member of the Netchico
compute team. HostChico.com
provides custom
configured Linux web hosting to select clients.
- 21 March 2001 Rain has
folded its first work unit.
- 18 March 2007 Over 510 work units have been
completed.
- 17 March 2007 Netchico
compute has surpassed 94,000 points.
- 08 March 2007 Rain
has joined the Netchico compute
team.
- 07 March 2007 Owner
is back online and folding. Netchico
compute team number 46501.
