Security Configuration
Guide has been updated to the final version. The purpose
of this guide is to provide an overview of Mac OS X v10.3.x “Panther”
operating system security and recommendations for configuring
the security features. This guide provides recommended settings
to secure systems using this operating system and points out
problems that could cause security concerns in systems using
this operating system.

- 29 April 2005 Apple has released OS X 10.4 Tiger
- 21 April 2005 Apple will release its OS X 10.4 Tiger on April 29, 2005.
- 17 April 2005 Apple has released update 10.3.9 for
OS X Panther. This update delivers improved compatibility and
reliability for Mac OS X v10.3 “Panther” and is recommended
for all users. Improvements include: file sharing and directory
services reliability for mixed Mac and PC networks; Mail, Safari
and Stickies application reliability; compatibility for third
party applications and devices; and previous standalone security
updates. You can download the OS X 10.3.9 update from Apple.
- 16 April 2005 Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger, the world's most advanced

- 24 March 2005 Mozilla has released Firefox 1.0.2.
- 28 February 2005 Mozilla has released an updated version of
their Firefox browser. Version 1.0.1 features improved
stability, International Domain Names are now displayed as punycode
and several security fixes. Network
Chico recommends using the Firefox browser as an alternative to Internet
Explorer in some situations.
- Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger is coming soon. You can see however
see a sneak
preview.
- 15 December 2004 Apple has released update 10.3.7
for OS
X Panther. The 10.3.7 Update delivers enhanced functionality
and improved reliability for Mac OS X v10.3 “Panther”
and is recommended for all users. If you already have 10.3.6
installed you can download the update. If you have an earlier
version installed you can download the combined update. Network
Chico recommends that all OS X 10.3 Panther users
install this update.
