its freely available and freely developed successor to Sun's
StarOffice and is a full office suite available for Linux,
Windows, and Mac
OS X.

17 May 2005 ANNVIX.
If you're looking for a secure server-oriented Linux OS, you
may want to consider the first non-beta release of Annvix, called
Annvix 1.0-RELEASE. This OS is based on the Mandrakelinux 9.2
distribution, but it is updated, slimmed down, and all of the
GUI-related items are removed. Take a look at some of the features

28 February 2005 Mozilla has released an updated version of
their Firefox browser. Version 1.0.1 features improved
stability, International Domain Names are now displayed as punycode
and several security fixes. Network
Chico recommends using the Firefox browser as an alternative to Internet
Explorer in some situations.
22 February 2005 A new tip has been added to the Linux tips page. This latest tip discusses
the use of the ngrep (network
grep) command to monitor network traffic.

for security purposes.
- 25 January 2005 Leading Linux distributors Novell and Red Hat are preparing major upgrades to their
respective server product lines for release within the next two
months. By the end of February Novell intends to release Novell Open Enterprise Server, a product
aimed at helping its NetWare customers move to Linux. Red Hat
has said it will release Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 this winter.
- 14 January 2005 Linux vendors Red Hat, Novell and
Mandrakesoft on Wednesday released patches for several vulnerabilities,
ranging from flaws that could allow denial-of-service attacks
